Wild clay and earth pigments sit at the heart of my practice. Much of the clay I use is gathered directly from the landscape around me, allowing the land itself to shape the work. Each piece begins with a memory of the place where the clay was found, and every stage from foraging and collecting, to processing, forming, and firing becomes part of a living relationship between the natural world and our own human sense of time, memory, and place
I’m deeply inspired by the rich, earthy colours that emerge from these materials. Foraged clays are transformed into pigments for my sketchbooks, each one carrying the story of its origin. Every process holds meaning a sense of place, a moment in time, and a connection to the land that offers these materials so generously.
Working with seasonal, raw, wild materials is the most magical part of my practice. It allows the earth to speak through the work, creating vessels and pigments that honour the landscape and the quiet histories held within it.
